Altered Silver

Say farewell to 2005. While the world was out partying, I was waving my magic gluestick to create this page. In numerological terms, 2006 is an "8" so I filled this page with 8's and high hopes for the new year ahead.

I had several ideas for what to do with this page, but ultimately I used a paper punch to collect square vignettes showing the beauty of winter. Then quite unexpectedly, I came upon this can of Campbell's tomato soup and realized it belonged on this page, too.

My background for this one was a rather dull image of window blinds. The picture offered a nice expanse of blue however, so I cut it out, then crumpled it into a tight wad, opened it back up and glued it down. Crumpling the paper added interesting cracks of white to the blue and gave texture to the page.

This was fun, especially finding all these grownups laughing, leaping and being rather childlike. A really fun page.

The full prompt for today, The Weather Outside is Frightful, is the first line of a winter song. The second line goes, "but the fire is so delightful." So I opted for the warmth of the fire, keeping the weather outside. The small text reads, "Enter your sacred space. Get comfortable and close your eyes. Trust your inner senses to guide you."

I acceded to the prompt with the snowman and "be cool" text, but as the temperatures were warming today, my page gave over to other things that might be "in the air," such as anticipation.

As the frenzied commercialism of Christmas at last passes until next August, I used this unprompted day to express a bit of commentary on the annual madness.

This dog making his own snow angel has been in the magazine ads for awhile. I knew I'd end up using it someday, and today's prompt was just asking for it.

After starting to seem more consistent again, Yahoo skipped me today, leaving me promptless. That nicely gave me the chance to use the image of these turquoise beads which have been in advertisements for months. The text says, "become quiet enough to listen to the most important voice in the world."

There is no explanation for this page except to say that when I sat down to work on it, I was greeted by an advertising flyer which showed shoes displayed singly, not in pairs. Sure enough, no two were alike.
